Six Steps Website Traffic Optimization Strategy

Quality and quantity of visitor traffic is the currency of any successful website. So, a key step in monetizing a blog or a website is to decide a website traffic optimization strategy.

There are two category of activities involved in optimizing website traffic – activities related to website promotion and subsequent activities related to traffic and site management.

Six Steps Website Traffic Optimization Strategy The 6-steps are

  1. Promotion of website content via activity streams like Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed, Techmeme, Digg.
  2. Syndication of site content using Feedburner, Brightcove, YouTube, NetVibes and other RSS, social media or widget sites.
  3. Search engine promotion involving both organic using SEO techniques and paid search marketing.
  4. As the site grows it needs to be benchmarked against competition using tools like Compete and Quantcast and checked for digital marketing readiness from time-to-time using tools like WebsiteGrader.
  5. Continue to monitor and optimize the site or blog around parameters like search indexing (Webmaster tools), ad revenues (Web Analytics tools), site performance (performance monitoring tools like mon.itor.us), etc.
  6. Analyze viewer behaviour using tools like Google Analytics, social activity using social media monitoring tools like Nielsen Buzzmetrics, and content performance using web or feed analytics.
